Background remover

Strip the background out of a photo. Right in your browser. No upload to a sketchy server.

Removes solid backgrounds in-browser by sampling edge pixels. Best on clean, contrasting backgrounds (white product shots, plain studio backdrops). Hair fly-aways and busy backgrounds will struggle — that's the honest limit of doing this without an ML model.

What this tool does

Background removal used to be a Photoshop skill. Now it's a one-click operation, but most online tools either watermark the result, downgrade the quality, or worse — upload your image to a server you've never heard of and use it to train a model. This one runs in your browser. Your image never leaves your device.

How to use it

  1. Upload an image. JPG, PNG, or WebP.
  2. Wait a few seconds while the model runs on your device.
  3. Preview the result.
  4. Download the PNG with a transparent background.

Why it matters

A transparent-background headshot or product photo is dramatically more reusable than one with a busy background — you can drop it on any colour, any layout, any social post. For solo professionals, this is one of the highest-leverage tools on this list.

Frequently asked

Questions people actually ask.

Does my image get uploaded anywhere?

No. The model runs entirely in your browser using WebGL. Your image never touches a server.

How good is the cut-out quality?

Best on people, animals, and clearly-defined products on a contrasting background. Struggles with hair fly-aways, transparent edges (glass, smoke), and busy backgrounds with similar colours to the subject.

What format should I save in?

PNG if you want to keep the transparency. WebP if you want a smaller file and your destination supports it. JPG flattens the transparency back to a solid colour, which usually defeats the point.
