Pivot or persist quiz

8 questions that surface whether the business you have is the business you should still be in.

What this tool does

Most pivot decisions are made too late — after months of pushing on a doomed thing — or too early — after one bad quarter that would have been fine. The honest signal isn't in your gut; it's in eight or ten specific markers about traction, conviction, and economics. This quiz surfaces those signals so you can stop arguing with yourself in the shower.

How to use it

  1. Answer eight questions about your current business. Be brutal — there is no value in lying to a quiz.
  2. Read the diagnostic at the end.
  3. Share with your co-founder or advisor before making the decision.

Why it matters

Pivoting too late is the most common cause of startup failure. Pivoting too early is the second-most common. Both come from making the decision on emotion rather than evidence. A structured quiz forces the evidence into the open.

Frequently asked

Questions people actually ask.

Is this quiz a substitute for advice?

No. It's a starting point for a conversation. Take the result to your most trusted advisor or co-founder, not as the verdict but as the agenda for a longer talk.

How often should I take it?

Every six months when things are going fine. Every quarter when things feel off. Daily if you're using the quiz to procrastinate the decision you already know you have to make.

My answers suggest pivoting but my gut says persist.

Then there's information your gut has that the quiz doesn't. Write down what that is. If it's a real signal — a customer about to sign, a feature about to ship — wait 60 days and re-take. If it's a feeling, the quiz is probably right.
